QTVC Live! Season Icons

Frustrated with arts institutions for continuously skirting topics of career sustainability for underprivileged and marginalized creatives, QTVC Live! began as a way to openly discuss business and budding entrepreneurship within the context of art.

QTVC Live! believes that visibility of the creative "hustle" serves as a much needed form of class and cultural representation in the arts. Femmes of color are prioritized on the show as, historically, this is the most underrepresented demographic in the art market to date. By sharing our stories and creative processes, QTVC Live! advocates for the value of creative labor as an irreplaceable asset.

FAQs

How do I order items from past seasons?

Items from Seasons 1, 2, and 3 are no longer available for purchase through QTVC Live! Visit the webpage for the episode you are interested in making a purchase from. On that page there are links to each vendor's website.

Please note: all items are small batch and some previously featured items are no longer available. Stay up-to-date with each vendor by following their social media handles and reaching out.

Will QTVC Live! return to the live sales platform model?

The future is unknown! Ideally, I’d like to build a TikTok Shop and go live once a month as QTVC Live! However, this buildout requires funding for time, planning, and artist resources. In our latest iteration (Season 4), we focused less on live sales because the Maine region where we are currently located shows less interest in this model.

How is QTVC Live! funded?

QTVC Live! is funded by institutional grants, mostly related to the arts. Occasionally individual organizations will sponsor a series of episodes that both pays for the time and labor of the film crew, the organizers and the featured vendors.

In its first season, QTVC Live! operated on a shoe-string budget responding to pandemic lockdown and immediate needs for funneling funds to artists. In its second and third seasons, QTVC Live! was fully funded by grants and institutional partnerships with each episode costing approximately $1500 to produce. In our fourth season we scaled back and produced all four site-specific videos on a single $3000 grant.

If you’re interested in sponsoring a season of programming, we can work within your budget.

Does it cost money to be a QTVC Live! featured vendor?

No. Each season of programming is funded differently and although QTVC Live! took a percentage of sales during the first season, our current funding structure allows all sales from each episode to go entirely to each vendor and ideally, an honorarium to compensate each creative for their time.

How can I be involved?

Whether you’d like to sponsor an episode, make a donation, or be considered as a feature for a future episode, please reach out via QTVClive@gmail.com. Julia will personally respond to your email because we’re still growing and still DIY.

Let’s discuss numbers and expectations via email, I look forward to hearing from you!
